BIOGRAPHY

Hannah Louise MacFarlane is a socially engaged artist, drawing from personal life experiences and those of other underrepresented groups with society to create welcoming, synergistic projects that aid in the communication across communities. This desire to create people-centered work is born through an upbringing within the Youth Theatre Arts. Understanding the innate power of storytelling, Hannah Louise puts real stories at the heart of her practice.

Hannah Louise turned her desire to tell stories into a route throughout education and subsequently, within her emerging career. Studying for two years at the MGA Academy of Performing Arts, she developed a commercial understanding of practice before completing her BA (Hons) Drama degree within Performing Arts Studio Scotland; an environment that enriched her teaching artistry; connecting with her working-class roots and visibility as a deaf, queer, young woman within the arts. Establishing a practice that enables and advances those same young voices on stage, screen, community halls and within formal education; Hannah Louise is keen to enhance visibility and be a strong ally for other groups within her facilitation.
